For those who don't know, recently Japan was hit by a 8.9 earthquake and this had in turn unleashed a tsunami onto Northern Japan. The prefecture of Miyagi was pretty much devastated by the water, as shown above, engulfing everything in sight. Local media in Japan has estimated the death toll to be about 1300, with many others missing.
Also something a lot more worrying is the nuclear plant explosion in Fukushima. If a radiation leak occurs, it may be a second Chernobyl happening right in Japan. Honestly, it goes beyond the border of adding insult to injury.
Currently, I know of my friend who is worrying about her teacher who lives near Sendai. I'm sure some of you guys out there might have friends or family in Japan, maybe even in Miyagi. Google has made this wonderful app that helps you register a record of missing people in Japan, hopefully if others know some information, they would also be able to post there. The URL is below:

Truly, this is a heartbreaking and sobering event for us all. However, the best we can do is to pray and hope that those in Japan can be safe.
