Temporary Closure

Hiya readers!

Sorry for not posting this sometime ago, but am currently not doing any posts for this week as it is my exams week, so I need to be buried in books 24/7.

I will not be on Wizard101 nor will I make new posts until the end of the week, sorry about that!

Do keep reading, and after my exams, I will post on Colossus Boulevard and the Haunted Cave, wrapping up Wizard City.

Thanks!

Patchy: The Post Comment button is down there by the way.

Streets Below the Clouds

Got to Triton Avenue, the last of the three streets in Olde Town. Personally, it's my favorite of the three streets, as mentioned in the previous post. It's completely stands out from Firecat Alley and Cyclops Lane due to its surroundings being completely different (waterfalls, river...)

Meanwhile, Susan Gryphonbane's brother Artur has gone missing, and in order to save him, we must help Duncan Grimwater do his homework before we even have a chance.

Scared? I see.
Patchy: Give Life a try, that way you won't be cowering when you see what kinds of undead you can summon.

 After retrieving a lot of stuff and pounding lots of the undead, you fight the Harvest Lord and save Susie's brother, thereby clearing the main quest line of Triton Avenue.

But seriously, a name like Harvest Lord would remind me of golden fields of grain, baskets full of ripe fruit and kitchens full of fresh vegetables.

Plenty for everyone!

 On the other hand, our Harvest Lord is just a more powerful version of a normal Field Guard, not to mention a whole lot more sinister than your Grandma's pumpkin pie.

Locusts vs Harvest, Round 1!

Patchy: One scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with the pumpkin pie, please.

On the sidequest part, there's helping Gloria Krendell retrieve her and Sylvia Drake's scrapbook from Sgt. Skullsplitter. Now why would he want some random scrapbook of them?

Splitting a skull? Not as easy as it sounds.
 Finally, everyone's favorite boss, the Kraken. It was pretty hard to get into the boss fight as usually you can find the duel circle full of wizards who want to farm. Sadly, those who want to finish the quest will have to wait until a new Kraken spawns.

Patchy: Quit complaining, at least they don't cause global warming.

On another note, the dueling circle right in the middle of the water is darned cool, probably because the waterfalls behind are so close.

You'll almost always have a full match here.

With that, I'll wrap up the post for Triton Avenue. Next post I'll finish off the Haunted Cave and hopefully, Colossus Boulevard. Then, its off to Krokotopia, which I'll start off with the Pyramid of the Sun.

Patchy: I better pack some shade then.

Feedback Friday!

Hi there again students! Another week has come and gone, and that means it's time for another Feedback Friday!

Standard disclaimer applies: We do not guarantee to use each and every idea submitted, and questions we pose may or may not be pertaining to things we are currently working on, or will ever undertake. Sometimes, there are just technical limitations that make changing things difficult to impossible, and though we possess all manner of magic wands here, there are technological beasts out there that are beyond our grasp. Sometimes, we may not feel it is within the spirit and vision of the spiral to add or change something. Also, we realize that some of these topics may have been addressed before in other threads - sometimes it's good to pick up a discussion again. Chances are I have read your threads and would like to hear more!

This week we would like to talk spells. If you could add a new "utility" type spell to your class, what would it be? Please stick to simple buff and debuff type spells (Tower Shield, Feint, etc) - we're not talking flashy cinematics and big damage here. Looking forward to see what you have to say!

Have a spectacular weekend! It's supposed to warm up here a bit, which makes this Professor very happy - I'm ready for summer!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zeke interrupting here! Please read Falmea's requirements. If you post a damage spell or something completely unrelated to her topic, it will not be approved.
 To be honest, I've never participated in the previous Feedback Fridays before (lack of ideas), so this is pretty much completely new to me.
This Feedback Friday however did arouse my attention as it pretty much deals with what I pretty much use 24/7 in Wizard101, spells.
Sadly, its utility spells this time, the little 1 or 0 pip spells that you cast on yourself or others that increase your damage, decrease their damage blah blah blah...
Patchy: Pretty much those spells not as flashy as your attacks.
I've heard some pretty good ideas around the thread, like a Balance Prism and a Balance Shield that shields 80%. Though, I myself have this idea in mind...
Spells that affect one of the cards in your opponents hand. When you cast it, seven cards (face down) will appear, you have to choose one of them for the spell to affect.
Fire- Smolder
Target card will have its accuracy decreased by 30%.
(Card affected shown to have scorch marks)
Ice- Hypothermic
Target card is frozen for 4 turns, during the four turns, it cannot be used nor discarded.
(Card affected is shown to be frozen)
Storm- Deactivate
Target card is grayed out and cannot be casted. Another card has to be discarded to reactivate the card. *
(Card affected shown to be sparking electricity)
* To reactivate a card, click another card in your hand and then click on the deactivated card. The card will be reactivated, meaning it can be used again, but the other card will be discarded.
Myth- Fade
Discards a second copy of the target card if the target card is not casted within 2 turns.
(Card affected shown to be burning with blue-yellow flames)
Life- Parasite
Increases the cost of the target card by 1 pip and mana.
(Card affected shown to have vines growing on it)
Death- Haunt
100 damage is taken to cast the targeted card.
(Card affected is shown to have ghosts over it)
Balance- Engima
Targeted card is turned into a ? card and the order of the opponent's hand is rearranged. *
(A ? card is sand-colored, the name, school, accuracy, cost and effect are all replaced with a ?)
This would probably be fun to cast and be a real headache if someone else casts it on you. Though, they seem more PvP-oriented than PvE.
If you have any ideas, post it in the Feedback Friday thread at the Wizard101 forums at the official site. Make sure to follow the criteria stated above for a chance for your idea to be accepted!
See ya!
The Ghoul and the Pocket-Watch of Nightmares
K, this is part two of Firecat Alley, will be covering the bosses in this post.
I'll start with Wormguts, he wasn't that hard . Plus his buddy got wiped out with a single Firecat, which makes it a lot easier :P
Additionally, I have this.
Patchy: A Wizard City boss shouldn't have such a dangerous artifact...
You're no teacher yourself.
Next up, Melweena. Three guesses for what happened to her XP
Pick a card, any card!
Bastilla Gravewynd is the second-final boss of Firecat Alley. To break the fire elves' curse, you have to snip off a lock of her hair for the cure. Fortunately, bug spray does not exist in Wizard City.
Patchy: I don't have a pair of scissors with me right now, so a scorpion spell will have to do.
This works too! Somehow....
Finally, after curing several elves, the last boss Prince Alicane Swiftarrow waits for you inside the Fireglobe Theater. I was pretty lucky that a Storm wizard was ready to go in, so we fought them together. The battle ended in a few minutes thanks to her hard-hitting Lightning Bats.
I could have finished him with a scarab, but I wanted to show off :P
 Patchy: To think the prince of fire elves can be defeated so easily... Guess fire elves
 Triton Avenue will be featured on the next post, then I'll wrap up Wizard City with the Haunted Cave and Colossus Boulevard. In the meantime, to anyone who's reading, here's a question for you:
Where's your favorite place in Wizard City and why?
Post your answer in the comments. No need for an essay, just keep it simple :D
As for me, it'll probably be Triton Avenue.  There's something about Four Falls Mill and the Kraken's circle in the middle of the water that makes me love the place. not to forget Crab Alley below!
It's definitely the waterfalls.
Firecats and Firerats
Got started on Firecat Alley today, one thing I almost never seem to notice here is probably the beautiful scarlet (sunset?) sky above the street.
Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailor's warning
I decided to start on the sidequests first to get some more exp as well as some hard-earned cash. Shelus wants me to get back some stolen treasures and to help him make his pocket harpsichord.
FYI, this is a harpsichord.
Patchy: Pocket-sized? That's....not bad.
First thing Gretta wanted was finger-bones. Probably the first game I ever played that requires you to go on a quest to break fingers...but if it does produce wonderful music, I guess its worth it. :)
Meanwhile, I also completed part of the main quest along the way, so which meant thrashing the tiny little fire elves and the magma men as well.
Patchy: Those fire elves are a lot smaller than I thought, a bit bigger than a rat though...
Battling in a team is always the best!
 Sorry for the short post this time, will wrap up Firecat Alley in the next post with all the boss battles. On another note...
Sadly, you can't take this home...
 How cool would this black firecat statue be for a housing item? Kinda reminds me of Halloween, add a few jack-o-lanterns and it'll be perfect to put in front of your house!
Patchy: Sadly, this blogger can't do picture-editing to save his life, so you would have to picture it in your mind.
Do leave any comment you like and ask any question on your mind, if you would like to see me cover a certain topic in a post, do leave a message and I'll do my best. Thanks for reading! ^_^
Knobheads, One-eyes and Cows.
Patchy was completing Cyclops Lane yesterday, to me its pretty much the same old trolls, cyclops and warhorns there (have a few wizards master and beyond). Though the difference is that they're now having a nice taste of the Scorpion spell. Also, for some strange reason, I have the habit of going from Cyclops to Firecat and save Triton for last...
Patchy: The scorpion is very reliable indeed, does in those club-wielders rather swiftly.
Standing there and doing nothing... something to brag about indeed.
Nolan's has that same old ego as ever, with his "brilliant planning" and him letting Patchy dealing with Akilles.
Patchy: If you wanted to say that you are weak and incompetent, then say so in the first place.
Let's see... "How to defeat the one-eyed freak in front of you..."
 General Akilles readied his hammer, preparing to smash Patchy into a wizard pancake. What he didn't expect is his possession of a Staff of the Dawn, (75 storm damage)  a Lightning Bats amulet which resulted in a rather nasty electrocution right to the face. His shiny golden helmet certainly did not help.
Patchy: The helmet looked more like plastic to me.
It would be better to give me that before I went to Cyclops Lane.
In the end, all's well that ends well. Patchy got a nice chunk of data for his bestiary as well as a new spell for his spellbook.
Lumbering Troll:
Element: Myth
Difficulty: Easy
Weakness: Storm spells, in fact any Rank 1 spell.
Has the intelligence of a doorknob, they are however, good at smashing and mashing.
Cyclops Legionnaire:
Element: Myth
Difficulty: Easy
Weakness: Rank 2 spells, storm preferably.
Way above troll intelligence, do not dot their "i"s. Better at smashing and mashing too.
Warhorn:
Element: Myth
Difficulty: Okay
Weakness: Same as Cyclops, but of course more power is required.
Do not underestimate, but do not overestimate either. Be careful of their axes. Steak sauce is optional.
With Cyclops Lane done, Triton Avenue and Firecat Alley remain for the Olde Town quests.
Next up, Firecat Alley.
Introduction
Greetings readers, welcome to Voile, the Magic Library.
This is my first blog on Wizard101 (make that my first blog ever) and its a record of my sorcerer, Patrick Nightleaf's (call him Patchy or Patch in game) adventures around the Spiral. Not only that, information on monsters and spellcards will also be recorded in this blog.
Patchy : To any other practitioners of magic, welcome to my humble archive. Feel free to read as much and as long as you want. Any thieving rats would be incinerated, frozen or simply vaporized. Do not cause any trouble here either. Thank You.
He's not that bad of a person actually, feel free to mail in questions and he'll try and answer them. Just... don't make him get out the rat poison...
Post lotsa comments too, we would love to see more! ^_^
As for the first official post, I'll start out with Cyclops Lane since most of you are a bit too familiar with Unicorn Way already. Currently he's Lvl 8 and starting on Firecat Alley, I hope to finish Wizard City soon, cause that's where the better stuff are!
Patchy: Firecat Alley, I wonder if wizards they roast their rats instead....
Edit: Oh, and if anyone wants to have their blog added to the sidebar, do tell me in a comment. Thanks! :D
